Everyone Is Addicted to Something

I was never in the gutter, but if think of the gutter symbolically, as a dead end and a place of hopelessness or despair then I guess I was. When you can’t ‘take it’ any longer or you just don’t see the point of living anymore, it’s as good as the gutter. I was rescued by grace from that dark place.

Richard Rohr, a Franciscan priest, often mentions that we’re all addicted to our way of thinking. His book Breathing Under Water is a 12 Steps approach for everyone.
